Probably the best trapping staff would be the 'Fires in the East' Quest reward. It gives you a total of +18 energy with a +5 Insightfull head on it.

If you don't have access to a Fires in the East staff, any staff with +10 energy with an additional +5 energy mod on it works fine. If you have a PvE character you can buy one of the green staves from Tombs for really cheap.

The key point is that staves generally do NOT have an attribute requirement to get the energy benefit. The attribute requirement applies only to damage.

There are collector's staves that you can dress up to have +18 or +19 energy, depending on your health level, but it's a lot cheaper to get a +15 green that's low cost because it's keyed to an unpopular caster attribute.

No staff has a requirement for the +10 energy, as Francis said.

I agree, any of the tombs staves is what I used at first.
+15E 10recharge/10casting. Thats good enough.
I use a Fires in the East staff now. Mod this staff with +5 energy head and +5 defense wrap. I have another modded with +5E and +30health <---i dont use it as much tho.

Just to make sure, Fires in the East quest has been removed, correct?

I followed the directions in GuildWiki word for word and wasn't able to obtain the "Fires in the East" quest. I'm guessing it was removed. I wanted the staff.

Technically, I think the FitE staff with mods give +3e over the green staves, but imo it's a waste of good mods just to get an extra +3e on a trapper. I use Kole's Torment with gives +15e, +30hp and 10% shorter cast/recharge on spells.

I tried with my warrior and ranger that have both completed the game and neither one can get the quest. I met the requirement quests that were listed in the guildwiki walk thru. What character did you complete the quest with?

The 10% is fairly useless to trappers, as it only works on Spells. The +5e and +30hp are both mods that can be added to the FitE quest staff.

But then, there's the cost of a +5e mod and a +30HP mod. For the frugal trapper, Flints Fleshcleaver gets the job done.

There are lots of green staves now that fit the +5 Energy/+20% enchantment extension template. A number of them are quite cheap.

I'd name them, but there are too many for me to recall them all. Flint's Fleshcleaver is definitely one. Galigord's Stone Staff is a little more expensive. Rago's Flame Staff is a lot more expensive. Kephket's Refuge keeps dropping in price, or you can just go out and get one yourself. Some of the mesmer staves fit that template too.
